Just paste a news link and watch YouTube Shorts upload itself! (Videostew API & n8n combo guide)

Hey there! 🎬 In this post we’re wiring up Videostew with the no-code ninja n8n so you can paste a news URL, grab a coffee, and watch the magic: video rendered ➜ auto-uploaded to YouTube—zero clicks required.

Prefer watching? Hit play below 👇

If you dream of turning daily headlines into studio-grade clips while you sleep, keep scrolling. We’ve even packed the n8n workflow into a copy-paste JSON so you can steal it in 30 seconds. No judgment.

Shopping list

  1. Videostew account + API key (paid plan—yes, we like coffee too ☕)
  2. Google account (Google Sheets + YouTube upload duty)
  3. n8n (the robot intern that never asks for a raise)

Step 1: Spin up the n8n flow & befriend Google Sheets

First, import our pre-baked workflow skeleton (grab the JSON here).

1.1 Import the scenario

One click and—boom—modules appear like rabbits. No assembly, no swear words.

1.2 Plug in Google Sheets

Click the very first module in your workflow, the ‘Google Sheets’ block, and let it shake hands with your Google account through the “Credential to connect with” drop-down. 👋

< The ignition switch for your video-automation rocket: a humble Google Sheet >

Quick pit stop: open Google Drive, create a fresh spreadsheet, and slap URL in cell A1 as your header. Drop any news-article link in that column and—boom—the automation starts purring like a sports car.

Copy the sheet’s URL, paste it into both the “Document” and “Sheet” menus (set to “By URL”), and n8n will spot the URL column without any extra coaxing.

Once the connection looks green, add one test link and hit “Fetch Test Event” to make sure n8n is actually listening to you.

Step 2: Grab your Videostew API key and plug it in

2.1 Get the key

Time to give n8n the keys to the Videostew kingdom.

Hop over to Videostew’s developer page, spin up a new app, and grab your API key. (Heads-up: a one-time setup fee of ₩220,000 plus a monthly minimum of ₩99,000 keeps the lights on.)

2.2 Configure the basics

Copy the fresh API Key and Token, then paste them into two spots inside the n8n workflow: node #2 (“Basic Environment Setup”) and node #6 (“Fetch Project Title & Description”). Easy peasy.

< Step 2: Basic Settings Screen >

2.3 Video-Making Rules (a.k.a. the Wizard)

Time to pick the vibe of your future video. Inside the ‘3. Script & Image Detail’ module, tweak the injector value and—boom—your article morphs into whatever style you fancy.

< Videostew API injector sample JSON for full-auto awesomeness >

Translation: grab the article from url, squeeze it into a 1-minute news script, recycle the article’s own images, and let AI paint fresh photo-style pics for any empty slides. For the full cheat-sheet of knobs and dials, cruise over to the Videostew API docs.

Step 3: Webhook—ping me when it’s ready

After ‘4. Call Videostew API’, we need a doorbell. Set up a webhook so n8n hears “DING! Video’s done.”

Copy the ‘Production URL’ from node ‘5. Catch Webhook Response’, paste it into the webhook field back in node ‘2. Basic Settings’. When rendering wraps up, that URL gets a friendly tap on the shoulder and the workflow marches straight to YouTube upload.

Step 4: Shake hands with the YouTube API

To upload your freshly-baked video to YouTube, you need to shake hands with Google first—i.e. grab the YouTube API key from the Google Cloud Console. Don’t worry, it’s less scary than it sounds. Just follow the yellow-brick road below.

4.1 Hop into the Google Cloud Console

First, create a new project (call it whatever makes you smile). Think of it as naming your new pet—just shorter.

4.2 Wake up the YouTube upload API

Head over to ‘APIs & Services’, search for YouTube Data API v3, and hit ‘Enable’. It’s like turning on the lights, but for robots.

4.3 Set up the OAuth consent screen

Before Google hands you the keys, you need to decorate the welcome mat. Set user type to ‘External’—because who doesn’t love external validation?

4.4 Bake your credentials

Time to create an OAuth client ID. Pick ‘Web application’, then paste n8n’s redirect URL into the ‘Authorized redirect URIs’ box. Copy the resulting Client ID & Secret back into n8n’s YouTube node—et voilà, you’re practically married. Pro tip: flip the app status to ‘Published’ or YouTube will ghost you faster than a bad Tinder date.

Step 5: Hit the big red button and watch the magic

All green lights? Sweet. Pop your news article URLs into Google Sheets, flip the n8n scenario to ‘Active’, or mash the test-run button on ‘Videostew API Call #4’. Sit back, sip coffee, and watch your content parade onto YouTube like it owns the place. 🎬✨

If Node #4 cheerfully replies “status: generating,” congratulations—your video is officially on its way to the rendering kitchen! 🎬

From there, if your scenario is switched on, just grab a coffee (or two). In a few minutes a webhook will ping you. Keep an eye on the ‘Executions’ tab—think of it as the airport arrival board for your content.

< A full-stack success: from idea to YouTube upload, all hands-free >

Once the job is done, the webhook fires and—boom—your video lands on YouTube automatically. For this demo we’ve set it to Unlisted, so it won’t show up in search just yet. Hop over to YouTube Studio → Content to admire your newborn Short.

What the finished product looks like

In our test run, a breaking-news article about the KOSPI/KOSDAQ tumble was summarized, voice-overed, and turned into a slick Short—complete with captions, AI voice, and stock-chart eye-candy. All without a single human finger lifting a pen.

Ready, set, automate!

Start with the ready-made JSON scenario we prepared, and you’ll have a full video-automation workflow running faster than you can spell “API.” All you need is a Google account and your Videostew API key—no PhD in robotics required.

In this walkthrough we used a Google Sheet as the trigger, but why stop there? Let an RSS feed sniff out the hottest headlines, or pipe your most-read blog post straight into the workflow. The only limit is your imagination (and maybe your caffeine supply).

News articles, blog posts, how-to guides—if it’s text, we can turn it into scroll-stopping video. Go on, feed the beast! 🐯

If something’s still bugging you or you’ve hit a creative brick wall, swing by the Videostew Dev Docs or ping us through the chat widget in the bottom-right corner of the site. We’ll jump in faster than a jump-cut! 🚀
