The GIF Library is Now Available in Videostew.
We are excited to announce the integration of Tenor, the world's largest GIF library, into Videostew. Tenor offers a vast collection of GIFs, ranging from memes to animated sticker images. Why Do We Call GIFs 'Umjjal'?
The origin of this internet term comes from an online community called DC Inside. Being a digital camera community, posts without images were often deleted by admins. To prevent their posts from being "clipped," users started uploading images known as 'jjalbang.' Thus, the 'jjalbang' culture was born. GIFs, being 'moving jjalbangs,' eventually became known as 'umjjal.'
Offering Both GIF Images and Animated Sticker Images!
GIF images are full-frame images, perfect for adding flair to your videos. You can search for them in Videostew's 'Image > Tenor Gif' section. They're great for scene transitions or for that perfect comedic timing with sound effects.
When it comes to video creation, Giphy sticker images are incredibly versatile. Search for them in Videostew's 'Image > Tenor Sticker' section. These are transparent background animated stickers, so you can find just the right vibe to overlay on your video. Below is an example of what you get when searching for 'love.' The end of the scroll is anyone's guess!

Understanding Fair Use is key to mastering GIFs.
Many YouTube channels we love sprinkle their content with a variety of GIFs. But are these GIFs free from copyright shackles? Or have they politely knocked on every copyright holder's door for permission?
The short answer is no. Fair use is a tricky concept that doesnβt come down to personal judgmentβit's a call for the judicial system. So, even if someone shouts, βI used it fairly!β if the court disagrees, theyβre in a copyright pickle.
According to YouTubeβs Fair Use Guidelines, if you add new expression or meaning to the original work, it might qualify as fair use. A bit of a brain teaser, right? Well, let's take a detour to South Korea's copyright law for some clarity.
Here's a snippet from Article 35-3, Paragraph 1 of Koreaβs Copyright Act:
In essence, popping a GIF into your video for a dash of extra fun can be interpreted as fair use. However, neither YouTube nor Tenor can be your legal knights in shining armor. Therefore, it's wise to peruse YouTube's Fair Use Guidelines and Tenor's License Terms before you dive into the GIF game.
